Usually in PC games (and some board games) modifications (mods) or additional content can be added to the "base game". So say for example Bill Wrong's "Simulated Social Interactions" comes out and they lack the ability to hi-five as an interaction. Somebody writes up a mod to add it to the base (unmodified) game, because it was not originally base game content.
