Re: gismu algorithm (was: [lojban] "salty")



I think  we use etymology only to accelerate memorisability of gismu. Therefore why mutilating words?

The developers of the algorithm apparently think that 'meaningless' grammatical affixes would merely ruin the results. I think they have a point, but, whatever. The importance of the gismu algorithm shouldn't be overstated.

 
We could check the results from "salado/salada" and see what would give the maximum rating.

Never mind.

 



Also, the German transcription is wrong.

{zaltsix} ?


It is phonologically analysed as /'zaltsig/, but it is phonetically [ˈzaltsɪç] (or
[ˈzaltsɪk]), so, yes, {zaltsix} (if not {zalts}).
 

Anyway i hope the issue with the concept of "salty" is closed.

My intention has not been to re-open the issue, yes.
