Re: [lojban] No more CAPTCHAs in the Wiki for verified users, please!

I run several MediaWiki instances, and have been amazed at the level
of sophistication that goes in to targeting them for spam. I've
always resorted to a banner that says "write me an email if you want
an account," as I haven't ever had the kind of time it takes to deal
with the chicanery of open accounts.

It's one of several places that MediaWiki's code is quite strained
in dealing with the variety and complexity of deployments. The only
effective response the community has developed is to have a wiki
with an active editor/patrol community, which is easier to do on
private (i.e., "Enterprise") wikis so becomes something of a
difficult problem for small wikis in the wild.
