Except that 'y' doesn't count as a letter when determining if there's a cmavo cluster, and "D's thread" is {le dy. clita}. Written or not, the pause after the 'y' is required.

Not quite. A lujvo can contain a sequence of a consonant, 'y', and a
consonant. So can a cmavo cluster.
