The cover can be printed in 4 colors, with a matte or glossy finish. I found an example here <http://paperbackrocker.com/tag/lightning-source>. If you go 6.14 x 9.21" ("Royal octavo') or smaller -- the current PDF seems to be that size -- you also have a choice of cloth binding, blue or grey, with or without dust jacket. I found an example here <http://www.novelpublicity.com/2012/02/how-to-produce-a-hardcover-version-of-your-novel-via-lightning-source-and-why-youll-want-to-have-one/>Thank you so much for showing the differences! I'd REALLY LIKE PEOPLE'S OPINIONS HERE. I prefer cloth bound without dust jacket, for the simple reason that we don't have the resources to do a really pretty full color cover and it's not that sort of book anyway, but what do other people think?
I prefer cloth as well, and without dust jacket. Dust jackets let you use fancy cover images, but I don't think it's appropriate for the CLL.
3. Does my PDF actually match all their requirements? The margins seem to conform to the 0.5" (13mm) requirement. The font size seems adequate -- even generous -- to me, but it would be good to have more eyes on it.+1
When I first looked at the PDF, the font looked quite big to me, but it's probably fine. I feel the margins could definitely be bigger. (making them bigger would of course increase the page count immensely)
