Re: [lojban] jungo: Any recent/current projects to translate into Mandarin Chinese?

coi ro do,

I'm a native English speaking Lojban fan with conversational Mandarin ability, so my email address is still floating around in Chinese translations I helped with on the Lojban website(s).

I was recently contacted by a native Mandarin speaker wanting to translate, and interested to know if there are any existing contacts or projects to translate learning material (i.e. The Crash Course) into Chinese.

Any pointers much appreciated!

You/they might start with something simple like Lojban in simple phrases:
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Yrxt9gAtqA_oSDD76Toq8VLSZjjOxJ5rkKsxFs3Cw8E/edit#slide=id.p

In case you can't access this website you may download the powerpoint presentation directly:
https://mw.lojban.org/images/7/79/Lojban._How_to_quickly_create_sentences.pptx

but please send the translation back to us when it's ready.

or Lojban cards https://mw.lojban.org/papri/Lojban_cards_course

The Crash Course is free for translation provided that you publish the result somewhere online.

Also note that the Crash Course is not just written in English, it has something optimized for English.
E.g. 了 (which is often {co'i} in Lojban) is common in Chinese, in English analogs of this particle are hidden deep inside English grammar. But in a Chinese course {co'i} might need to be explained earlier.

I can also suggest translating definitions of gismu and cmavo into Chinese that still might need improvement. The sources of the crash course dictionary are here:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19faXeZCUuZ_uL6qcpQdMhetTXiKc5ZsOcZkYiAZ_pRw/edit#gid=26 (or alternative but not often updated link: https://mw.lojban.org/images/f/f3/The_Crash_Course_Lojban_Dictionary.xlsx)

Cells with formulae are to be left as they are. Cells with English translations and without formulae are to be translated.
Anyway feel free to contact me privately to ask about the structure of this spreadsheet.
Also note that The Crash Course requires not just reading the course but also sending feedback back to me so that I know what needs to be improved. This is also the case with translating it to other languages.
