this is a lojban group. we aim to replace enormous, trillion dollar 
investments in (mainly) english infrastucture. using hex is minor 
compared to this task. and as for the benefits...it's the attunement 
to logic that makes powers of 2 more useful.

everything you mentioned is already in use. how many ounces in a 
pound? inches in a foot? seconds in a minute? just because we use 
hex for most things doesn't mean other bases can't be used.
