Expressing such an opinion, even about a foreign entity,
might threaten our IRS not-for-profit status, which is not
extended to lobbying groups.

Is the LLG a 501(c)3 non-profit organization? I think so.

In the US, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization is permitted to advocate
and lobby for *general* political issues, such as a ban on software
patents, or the use of Lojban as a patent-description language, but
not for a *specific* numbered bill.

I don't know the regulations concerning a numbered bill in a non-US
legislature.
