I would use mapti for the equation example.

The words are all related, though. Given a situation or property, you 
might want to test (cipra) whether something matches (mapti) that situation 
or property, such as the variable X in your example. mansa allows for the 
fact that outside of mathematics, the minimal standard for passing or 
mapti-ing a test is at the discrimination of the person evaluating the test.
