Both, but more the latter. Sometimes I need to resolve ambiguities without really being competent to make the decision, more often I am forced to introduce ambiguities (by creating huge nested sentences, with ambiguity multiplied by each nesting layer) or to break up the structure into more readable English/German and again make decisions that I am not authorized, such as redefining the claimed scope of patent protection. -phm
