Yes.  Classical music everywhere was written either for or under the patronage 
of the nobility.

I'm not crazy about this one either, and I hope someone suggests a better 
alternative.
The justification for it is the fact that popular music doesn't last long.
Yes, other forms of music an be new, but that should not be a problem.
This is a lujvo, not the tanru {cnino zgike}.  Similarly, 'classical' music 
is written today (not much) usyally under the patronage of the state 
or public instututions.  Nonentheless, I think due to its origins, nolzgi 
still works.
