Diabetes is the failure of the pancreas to produce insulin. It's not a sugar failure. Or were you referring to the failure of the body to absorb glucose?

I decided to look up the etymology, and I definitely think we shouldn't use the source (basically "pisses too much").

Actually, I was thinking of going with the etymology, though maybe not all of it.  Something like {titpincyterbi'a} or maybe better without the -ter-.  This is diabetes mellitus and not diabetes insipidus.
