[lojban-beginners] Re: coi rodo
Hey there, Hal.
I too am a total newbie; I've been reading through the lessons for
beginners and just started using a flashcard program for gismu and
such. I'm not really sure about the apostrophe at the beginning
of a name. As far as I know, it's mainly there for separating
vowels that would otherwise form a dipthong. (the difference
between io and i'o, etc.) Unless pronouncing the x is a problem,
my choice would be to stick with that. Totally dig that last
version. Also, names are supposed to end in a period, yesno?
I have a pretty easy name to Lojbanize (la skot.), but I like a
challenge. I decided to just pick out a Lojban lujvo that
describes me for my Lojban name. (It seems nicer to me than just
trying to pronounce my own name strangely to suit the language.)
I call myself la cuncuxnas., made of cunso (random) and cuxna (choose)
to form "random-chooser". Given my tastes, it suits me.
Descriptive words and luvjo are a pretty good option if you have a
difficult name to Lojbanize.
Anyway, I hope that helps!
- la cuncuxnas.

Hi all,
A total newbie here. Well, I've done some reading and I know
a little bit of grammar and a handful of gismu.
One thing I'm wondering about is how to lojbanise my name
(Hal Fulton). I've considered several cmene:
la 'al (acceptable?)
la xal (an alternative, I guess)
la 'al.fultyn (first and last)
la 'al.soki'os (HAL 9000)
Please offer feedback...
Cheers,
Hal
