So, mine would be parsed like "lu mi klama sei () cu'u la djan le zarci"
without a proper brivla in "sei ..."? Therefore I need to stick to "cusku"
as a brivla instead of the cmavo "cu'u"?

The SEI-construct has the following grammar:

              SEI (terms CU?)? selbri SEhU?

The question marks indicate optional elements. The terminator SEhU
can normally be elided. The leading terms are optional. The selbri
is not optional. (Terms linked with BE and BEI are internal parts of
a selbri.)
