Ah, you're right, sorry. Yes, the modificand is what dictates the
place structure of the tanru, so whatever fills the x1 of the tanru
will be filling the x1 of the tertau (i.e. the modificand). There you have
two more words for the glossary: seltau: modifier, tertau: modificand.
Of course it is possible to use a tanru metaphorically, but it is
equally possible to use a non-tanru predicate metaphorically,
so there is no special connection between tanru and metaphors,
other than JCB's apparent confusion about the meaning of "metaphor".
