"nu ___" -> "___-ing" works reasonably well.

In the other direction you have two options:

"___-ing" -> "nu ___"
"___-ing" -> "ca'o ___ "

(Sometimes "-ing" can be the result of an action rather than the
action, as in "a building", "a drawing", and Lojban doesn't have an
obvious conversion for that.)
