[lojban-beginners] skina fanva
coi lojbo
I hope one way (for me) to learn Lojban is to try and use it. So, for
my personal amusement, I tried to translate this clip (le te skina ku
pendo): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmW92vwNRWw (There are
subtitles in English, among others.) The clip is quite nice. :)
This is what I came up with (quite longwinded in comparison to the
Esperanto original, btw):
---
lo dilnu zo'u ca'o lo na'arki'o loi remna cu jmive bu'u lo dy. ctino
noi ze'epu nalckape
.i ku'i lo vindu gundi .a ke'unai lo nu ciplanli be bu'u lo mipri
skegunku'a be lo fenki cu rinka lo nu morsi dilnu gunta
ni'o fi'o ralju xe draci la roberton. kamarelen. ko lifri tu'a la
roberton. kamarelen. .e le nonbandu tcadu .e le fenki skepre
.i je go'i lo nu morsi dilnu gunta
---
So, I guess there are several problems. First of all, I’m not sure
about the way I rendered the title. I have, of course, no idea about
Lojbanistani conventions for film titles, and I don’t know if this is
elegant.
Furthermore, the original has a strange causal (is it?) sentence: ~
"Poisonous industry, experiments […] of a madman lead to blabla." The
industry does not seem to have much to do with the experiments, but in
Lojban I suspect you can’t just enumerate without specifying the
relation between those two causes. ".a ke'unai" is probably rubbish,
though.
Does the "fi'o" construction make sense?
Oh, and I made up "na'arki'o" for "millennia" and "skegunku'a" for
"laboratory"; not sure about those, neither.
I’d be glad to here comments and corrections. a'u ki'e
