[lojban-beginners] Re: APE: History misconceptions

There are no rules for this one, other than it has to be something that a great many people /think/ is true, but actually is completely wrong.

For example:

"Columbus wasn't trying to prove the world was round. This was already known. He was trying to get to India by going West."

(Just so you all know, I'm assuming this particular historical misconception is a purely U.S. one. I like to think the rest of the world is better educated in this matter than my countrymen apparently are.)
