[lojban-beginners] Re: "Something besides [...]" translation
I'm not very good at deciding between {poi} and {noi} in nonstandard
cases, but here I'd rather use {poi}.
But I wouldn't really say it like this, especially as {xu} attached to
a sumti makes the main sentence an assertion (I can't find a relevant
citation from CLL right now).
For example, {xu do citka lo mi plise} may mean "did you eat my
apple?", while {do xu citka lo mi plise} would rather mean "Is it you
who ate my apple". So you're assrting that something is wanted (unless
I'm wrong).
I would say {xu do djica lo na'e nu tcidu fi lo kibro lisxra ku'o}.
"Something other than..." screams for {na'e} in my opinion.
When it's comfortable to use an experimental gismu, do it. That's what
they're for. {kibro} even has an experimental rafsi {kib}.
