Re: [lojban-beginners] White men can't jump.

2014-12-03 5:51 GMT+03:00 <ravas@outlook.com>:
White men can't jump.
lo kapli nakni cu na kakne lo nu plipe
lo kapli nakni na ka'e plipe

I think those are fine although I can only suggest some optimisations:

i lo kapli nakni na kakne lo ka plipe
i lo kapli nakni na ka'e plipe

The first would imply physical ability.

The second just talks about possibility.

I can't jump; possibly because I am a white man.
mi na kakne lo nu plipe ki'u da'i mi lo kapli nakni

I'd use {la'acu'i} instead of {da'i}.

{da'i mi kapli nakni} = I could be a white man.
{da'i} explicitly shows that a phrase is in subjunctive mood.

Are these translations correct?
xu le xe fanva drani

In the second sentence I want to indicate that I don't actually know why I am unable to jump;
however, it could be because I'm a white man.
