[lojban-beginners] How long should a word be marked with "za'e"?

How long should a word be marked with "za'e"?  Does it mean that a
word is being used for the very first time, or should it be used as
long as a word is likely to be unfamiliar or isn't yet found in
dictionaries?

I'm thinking particularly of a situation that I often find myself in:
I want to use a word that I already thought of a long time ago, but I
only used it a few times before, and no one has particularly noticed
it, or at least no one uses it except me.  Should I mark those words
with "za'e" when I bring them out again?
