At the risk of derailing the discussion entirely, is it a good idea to
have a place specifically for 'father'? We're already on the verge of
having the ability for a woman to become pregnant with her own clone,
or a child made from her and another woman, or from two men.
Or am I being overly pedantic? (pedantry? on this list? never!)
Yes you are. And when they finally manage to build transporters or stargates, you (x1) will be able to klama to there (x2) from here (x3) without ever going through any point in between (x4), but we won't be taking the x4 out of klama, because much "going" will still be done through points in between.
Besides, this in an English definition, so you can expect it to be non-exact. Even today, it would be better described as "sperm donor".
Also, pregnancy is often used (in many languages - no reason not to do so in lojban) as a metaphor, in which case you still need a "donor"
