This is my opinion: When two things are jibni, they have a quality
(such as location) in which they are near each other, but also
somewhat distinct. When two things are simsa, there is a quality
which both of them share exactly. It's often a subtle distinction in
practice, since two things which are jibni when considering them at
one level of detail are always simsa if you zoom out to a less
specific quality. For instance two objects that are jibni in location
because they're a foot apart could also be simsa in the quality of
being on the same side of the room. Two objects that are jibni in
what shade of red they are could also be simsa in being the color red
at all. So in many cases it's a distinction without a difference, but
they may have different implications in a particular context.
