In that case then nevermind, you're right.  If you want specificity like "definition" as in those things that you find in webster's dictionary then just use selvla.  If you're looking for something more generic like a "function definition" then {smuni} should be fine.

 Exactly.  And as previously mentioned, if you are restricting it to
the domain of a word, then selvla is even more precise. But Alex said
he didn't want to restrict to words/phrases.  Hence, smuni.
