[lojban-beginners] Re: tanru
la meris. melbi se tavla la tam. -> Meris listens beautifull speach of
Tom.
or Meris is beautiful listener
of Tom.
(Which translation is correct?)
--> "Mary is beautifully spoken to by Tom."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
la tam. tavla melbi la meris. -> Tom is beautiful to Meri as
speaker.
(Is the translation correct?)
--> Yes. Or, "Tom is speakingly[?] beautiful to Mary."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
la tam. se tavla melbi la meris. -> Toma is beatiful to Meri as
listener.
("se" - corresponds to "tavla" or "tavla melbi"?)
--> "Tom is beautiful to Mary as someone who is spoken to." here, {se}
corresponds to {tavla}. {se tavla} does not mean listening, just being
spoken to. afaik, you can speak to someone whether or not they are
listening to you. :-)
