Well, the X doesn't mean X. Similarly, linux is la linuks in lojban.

Microsoft WMV and WMA is actually a lot easier for GNU/Linux users to use
compared to Real Video and Sorensen QuickTime, despite the famed Microsoft
animosity. It works with gstreamer, xine and mplayer.

Don't know if that goes for WMV 9, though. Maybe it's just the older codecs.
