Yes. And much more systematic.

I've heard that every (*every*!) language has past tense. Which is a bit
surprising if You think of that not all of them break up to words. (Some
really weird langs consist of elements that sign almost whole sentences.)

I'm also not sure that Chinese time particles ("le", "guo" etc.) are really tenses as we understand them. They seem rather more like Lojban event contours, but [ga'inai] that could be the result of my limited knowledge of Chinese.
