[lojban-beginners] Logfest 2006 at Penguicon
coi rodo
Penguicon, a combination science fiction convention and open source software expo in the greater Detroit metro area of Michigan, has allocated function space for Logfest 2006. In its fourth year, Penguicon is held April 21 through 23, 2006 at the Holiday Inn in Livonia, Michigan. See
http://www.penguicon.org/ and http://wiki.penguicon.org/ for more information about Penguicon.
My presentation about Lojban at Penguicon 2005 packed the room, and is in demand for a repeat this year. There are at least four local Detroit-area jbopre who will be in attendance at Logfest 2006 activities, and probably more like seven. Please join us, and it will be very well attended! LogFest will be held in the Brewstreet Dining Area, which can be seen in photos on the hotel website at

A past Lojbanist, Eric S. Raymond, never fails to attend Penguicon. Guests of Honor this year will include:
Looney Labs, creators of Zendo and Nanofictionary, games which have been played at past Logfests
Chris DiBona, open source director for Google
Frank Hayes, filk musician and tech columnist for ComputerWorld
Steve Miller and Sharon Lee, authors of the Liaden universe novels
Program participants will include: Rob "CmdrTaco" Malda of Slashdot, Tom Smith, The Great Luke Ski, John Scalzi, Karl Schroeder, Clif Flynt
The Penguicon registration rate increase from $35 to $40 has been postponed until February 28. After the end of March, registration will only be at the door for $45. Would anyone like to chip in for a hotel room and throw a Lojbanic room party? I'm looking forward to seeing you there!
