Lojban isn't the only language that uses punctuation marks differently than
English. Greek uses ";" as a question mark, and both Armenian and older
conventions of Hebrew use ":" and "." as each other. But those are still
punctuation.
Some people use question marks in Lojban, either next to the question word or
at the end of the clause. I put them at the end of the clause.
If I use an abbreviation or symbol in a sentence, I punctuate it with a
hyphen: {mi m- 1.51 gi'e kg- 64}. To break a word at the end of a line, I use
a comma, since it indicates the absence of a pause.
