[lojban-beginners] Re: Logical connectives



{.a} should be interpreted as "OR/AND" rather than the exclusive "OR" (XOR). (1) says that:

Alice drinks tea OR/AND coffee | AND | John drinks tea OR/AND coffee.

Alice may drink either "tea OR coffee" or "tea AND coffee". The same goes for John. So, we can't assume "Alice drinks (exclusively) tea and John drinks (exclusively) coffee", and vice versa. {.a} in (1) allows both (2) and (3) to be true.

You're right. There should even be a period before {.alis.} because it's a
word beginning with a vowel. I read that "technically, the period is an
optional reminder to the reader" (refgram, chapter 3). However, that does
not mean that it's good to omit the periods.
