Here's what I suggest if you want to see the flow of a conversation.
Note that it renames the conversations as people change the
subjects.

Go to the discussions tab.

At the near-top set View to Topic List, and Sort by: to latest
message.

Go into the topic you want to browse; as a for-example, the main
thread that I started is now called "The efficacy of Lojban's
grammar"; you can tell because it has 100 posts in it :).  At the
upper right, click on "Options" for the whole thread (not "more
options" for the individual message(s)).  Select "view as tree".

That should make everything relatively manageable.
