I probably remembered the words from some French book about insects I read 
when I was a kid, matched "saute" to "hop", and jumped, with the knees that 
are higher than the feet, to conclusions. The book had a picture of une tête 
de taon; I had no idea at the time what sort of insect that is, and learned 
only decades later that it's from Latin tabanus, horsefly.
