Hmmm ... I did a little more digging around and found an
authoratative-sounding definition ...
"Food allergy is an immunological reaction to food proteins.
Food intolerance is a pharmacological reaction (like the side effects of
a drug) to the chemicals in foods."

So I think that at least some of your proposed "food allergies" are in
fact just the same as traditional "pollen allergies", but there are
other categories of problems with foods that are definately different.
So we're both right :-)
