Question re: Bible translation

I gather that the ongoing Bible translation (a compelling project imho) is using the Douay-Rheims
translation as its source <

But from a cultural standpoint, I wonder whether using a Christian
translation of Jewish texts (Old Testament) is a good idea. There has
always been a tendency in some strains of Christianity to consider the
Old Testament in light of the New Testament. Jews tend to be somewhere
between bemused and offended by this tendency, since of course their
scriptures are otherwise seen to stand on their own. And the Jews have

I realize of course that a good deal of work has already been done on
the translation & mean no slight, but I thought it was a point
worth bringing up.
