There are modern printings of the Bible that provide the original text
in parallel with the translation, for study and analysis. Personally, I
don't agree with the philosophy that every word in the Bible is inspired
by God and is without error, so even a second-hand
original->English->Lojban translation is acceptable for my own studies.

That said, your suggestion *is* the best way to do it, especially with
the differences between English and Lojban.
