Re: [lojban] livejournal discrimination
lokadin,
First I will say this: Thank you for being involved enough to take an
interest in this. Thank you for posting to the blog. I wish more of us
would. I don't want you to stop. I don't want anyone to stop
participating.
Secondly I must say this: The passages you cited do not describe an
alternative capitalization. They show how to capitalize words whose
stress breaks the stress rules of Lojban, and _only_ those words.
Lojban does not permit that capitalization on words which obey the
stress rules.
Your post is not valid Lojban. You have not shown that it is. The
Lojban blog appears on the homepage and is the public face of the
language community. It is acceptable to make mistakes in Lojban on the
blog and discuss how to correct them. It is even acceptable to
deliberately show variation that deviates from Lojban, as you have
done. But it may only be done in order to have a thought experiment
for us to discuss. You have to label it as not Lojban. You are not
allowed to pass it off as real Lojban and confuse beginners who come
to the blog.
Alex and I are both admins of the blog. He's mistaken about one thing:
Livejournal does not give us the power to edit your post, only delete
it. Only you, as the post's author, can edit it without deleting it.
In order for beginners to not be confused by your post, please add
text describing what you do as an illegal variation, something which
is not Lojban but something to think about and discuss on the blog as
a fun and harmless thought experiment for our community. Then we'll
leave it. If you don't, we will have to delete your post.
