Re: [lojban] Re: livejournal discrimination

A few general comments - not directed at anyone in particular. First, let's not make a major rift over this. I offer my apologies to any I have offended. I do, however, stand by most of what I have said.

epkat is correct; I actually can't edit the post. I just assumed since I saw the 'pencil' icon that I use to edit my own posts, it did the same thing. It lets me look at edit view, but not make changes.

The issues of majuscules and no spaces two different things. I can read text where every stressed syllable is indicated, albeit with some difficulty. I can't read text with no spaces unless I copy it and then go back and put in spaces. Consequently, I don't mind the former, but do the latter. And it's the latter which bothered me in the lj.

Andreii -- I love your enthusiasm and artwork; I just want to *understand* what you are saying. And I can't do that with the current form. I want to see your ideas as you see them, especially your drawing since I have little artistic talent of my own.

As for the lj entry; I made those comments because of the higher publicity of the journal. I feel that it is not the place to use non- standard lojban. That kind of thing belongs better on the mailing list. I would enjoy to see a long thread debating the merits of the orthographies as much as the huge thread on 'all' a while back. But until it's accepted by the community, I don't think it belongs on the lj. In my mind, the lj is a place where people can see things that are examples of good lojban.

I stand with epkat here -- experimental lojban is ok, if and only if it is marked as such. And for now, no-spaces orthography is still an experimental style.

I would love to see you keep your interest and continue posting to the lj. I don't know enough gismu yet to post anything of interest (I know more cmavo than gismu, probably) and don't have the time to spend learning more. And artwork on the lj is *always* a plus.

To boil this down, I don't personally like the no spaces style even though it is grammatical. It might have some use in taking down what was said in lojban when making transcripts etc, but at present it's not the normal way to write lojban. So I don't feel it's appropriate to put it in a place like the lj, unless it's marked as being a different way to write lojban.
