It does correlate to *some* English uses of "if, then",
but not very well to the use with the subjunctive.

Some examples:

    ganai do mi prami gi ko mi cinba
    "If you love me, then give me a kiss."

    ganai ti solji gi ri mutce se vamji
    "If this is made of gold, then it is very valuable."

    ganai ti solji gi mi ba citka le mi mapku
    "If this is made of gold, then I will eat my hat."

    ganai do mutce gunka gi do ba tatpi
    "If you work hard, then you will be tired."

In all of these, without subjunctives, ganai gi works
pretty well for "if, then".
