[lojban] Re: reply to a negated selbri (compared to French)



The Spanish one is not at all surprising, because negatives are formed by
negating everything rather than one thing as in English. Double negatives
are not only still negative, they are preferred over single negatives. In
Spanish, therefore, it is only consistent for the negative answer to match
the negative thing expressed in a sentence with negative words. This may be
the case for other Romance languages as well, therefore, since many of them
prefer multiple negative words.

English, however, does things differently. That we answer negative questions
the way we do is odd, but that's just what we do.
