Can anyone summarize, which instruments are there in Lojban for
explicit specification of context for the meaning of the words of the
speaker?
In these examples explicit context is between asterisks.
- Dragons can fly, *in fantasy world context*
- There are no dragons *in the real world*
- All bears are animals *in the real world*
- All bears have something common *in human discourse*
- The car is green *in your context*, but *in my context* it is white
- The line is infinite to both sides *in abstract math / in theory*
- There are no infinite lines *in everyday life
mi'e .ianis.
P.S. / ba lo se ciska:
Oh sorry, I am an ignoramus in the subtle differences between English
words "context" and "setting" used by mega-linguists here :))
Perhaps some cmavo from selmao BAI and BAI* may help
vedu'o = under epistemology. may help in scoping some of those contexts
teni'i = under logic system ... my guess is math and theory, both being
systems for generating formal proofs would loosely fall under logical
systems as long as the system refered to was clarified.
There's quite a few others but these stood out as particularly relevant.
ma'i = with reference frame. If the reference frame were specified as
everyday experience / the "real" world / etc I'm sure this would
suffice, though the semantics of how to express such a reference frame
I'm sure are fraught with danger. ;-)
These are all modals so I'm no expert in using them, but I'm sure
someone will pipe in to clarify if I'm on the wrong track.
