Re: your mail
My archives of the list are not distinct from my general mail archives. These
run about 1-2 meg per month zipped, and include news and all kinds of garbage.
I suspect others may have better archives and would suggest a request to
the list.
Mark's biblical names are definitely in. (Where is he by the way? He isn't
answering mail, and hasn't posted the gismu list to the PLS after 3 weeks
and two reminders. He does read some mail, since he responded to
something on wither conlang or Lojban list a week ago, but has been truly
silent other than that for maybe 4 months.)
As for documenting the deletions, it seems like it shouldn't be THAT arduous.
I have the list originally generated, which can be compared with the list
afterwards. I presume most words were deleted based on a couple of major
criteria, and it remains only to make lists of the criteria, and the words
deleted due to each. If there were some deleted as pure judgement calls,
that is an adequate explanation (even if not a criterion), and we can put
those in a list for reconsideration.
Let me know when yopu want eaton files. I think the things to be done with
each is a) determine if the metaphor presented for the English makes any
Lojbanic sense whatsoever, b) ensure that the metaphor is enshrined in
correct Lojban form (long-form lujvo are fine, no need to play with rafsi
unless you want the practice - the program will find th ebest form) c)
suggest alternative or better metaphors; more than one possibility for each
Eaton keyword may be in order; d) ensure tha the Eaton number is kept, but
most of the other garbage in the files for each word is probably just garbage.
Commentary that seems relevant to helping us pin down the meaning might be
worth keeping. e) your standard fromat place structures (lower priority, since
a list of words is a good start, and can be being reviewed while the place
structures are being generated).
There are further things that can be done, but that is probably more than you'll
haev time for, given the heap on your plate.
