I think the key thing to note here is that "{la'o}" is also a member of
{selma'o} ZOI. "{la'o zoi Lojban IRC zoi}" is grammatically equivalent to
"{zoi zoi Lojban IRC zoi}"; the only difference is that a quote with "{zoi}"
refers to the text itself, while "{la'o}" refers to the thing referenced or
named by the text.
