I'm hijacking your idea.
There are no pennies. Everything is rounded off.
I absolutely want this to be a base twelve system, so we're doing:

Unless anybody has a REALLY good reason to not let me have this (and
numbers higher than 5 aren't even going to come up until much later,
probably), then it's decided. I think very much later on in the show
we can introduce base twelve, after the point where there isn't a
whole lot of learning to be done anymore.

Not only that, but I may want to reuse this little space station for
further stories, so it would be neat to establish early on that there
are different number bases.
