Re: [lojban] Lojban Kids Show - connecting the tubes
I understand your concern, but I don't see how having a sound scientific basis for a story is necessarily mutually exclusive to a story that is fun and interesting.
Pierre and others have been doing a wonderful job in architecting a very believable "what if?" scenario, which will be just as wondrous to kids (if not more so) than some guff based on prancing fairies and unicorns, or whatever floats your boat... I don't believe we should have to resort to patronising our audience when there are more than enough amazing, astounding and beguiling wonders deeply rooted in the realms of facts and knowledge that we can build our fantasy scenario on.
In addition, the scenario being created isn't intended just for this one project; it's hopefully going to be a solid enough foundation for other creative works to come.
As an aside many of the facts and figures being discussed are very unlikely to directly appear in the kids' show, but their direct and indirect effects and their consequences will no doubt feature in some plots that'll be great fun for young minds to explore.
I think I'm safe to assume you haven't read what we've got together so far for the pilot episode outline? Have a look at https://docs.google.com/document/edit?id=1Figgelppx0xep5HC7GRConr445BHq3Oycb6uAB8tL2Y and let me know if the science gets in the way of the story, and if it does, how it should be fixed. Feedback and comments are most welcome :-)
