How about "rulbic" for Beta? She could go by Melissa or Deborah in English,
and maybe Alpha calls her "melisas" or "deborat" by mistake when speaking
Lojban. Anyone have ideas for her family names?

rulbic doesn't sound very feminine to me. Also, I didn't get the reference to Melissa until I looked up the etymology.

That said, I would expect most English speakers would find a homonym for a name, not using the common name with the same meaning. For instance, Michelle, for a jbopre named .mescul., even though Michelle doesn't mean "humble sister".

If any lojbanist tried to name their kid "mescul", I'd have to thwack them about the head and shoulders for violating the morphology :-)  Perhaps you meant mesycul?

me'icul ?
