Okay, but you have a little animation that clearly shows the name is
supposed to be {garna zei nanmu}. So either use the correct rafsi, or
don't say that it's a combination of two words in Lojban, because
that's how the convention works. So your dude's name is either
"garnan" and it has absolutely no meaning in Lojban, or his name is
handrail-south and it doesn't make any sense at all.
Like my name for example. My name is actually "Lindar" in English.
People tend to think either it's "Linda" and I've lojbanised it by
adding an R, or it's linsi zei darno if they look into the meaning
with the assumption that it's another jvocme. That's just how the
naming convention works.
So, feel free to stick with Garnan (it's a nifty-sounding name), but
don't expect anybody to get the pun, because it doesn't exist due to
the fact that the component selrafsi are garna (guard-rail/hand-rail)
and snanu (south), not grana (stick) and nanmu (male), which would be
ga'arnau.
