Certainly. For my purposes, I usually just want a quick reference and the easiest way to do that was to make whatever hotkey bring up the definition, and releasing that key make the definition go away. It could be modified so that CTRL+<hotkey> brings up the dialog and pressing <hotkey> a second time (or just closing the dialog by clicking the X) will make it go away.
The closer you could make it work to GD's scan pop up, the happier I would be. I'm perfectly happy with <CTRL>+{hotkey} being used to open it - I would personally change the hotkey to menu, myself (the key between the windows and control keys right of the space bar on a standard U.S. keyboard), and I would prefer that <CTRL> close the dialog, not {hotkey}.
Specifically I would love if QD was able to pick up the desired word based on what word was under the mouse, instead of needing to be selected, purely because QD can be made to not treat you're as the words "you" and "re", or to use lojban valsi, to not treat {ba'argau} as the words {ba} and {argau}, which GD does with the scan pop up, by the way.
If others agree that this would make for a more useful program, I will incorporate it into my v2 (which will also be more flexible with parsing cmavo clusters like mu'onai which it currently treats as a bizarre lujvo).

That's actually very similar to the GoldenDict program's popup feature. Is it possible to change the fu8nctionality of the program so that you don't need to hold down the Control key?
(As in, make the window stays open until a mouse-enter+leave event, or until a close window button is pressed, or various other things?)
I've been using this script for a while now but the lujvo section has been broken... till this afternoon.
Since I've found it to be handy I thought I might share it with anyone who might be interested. I've included the source in case anyone is curious enough to prod at it.
I put it up on file dropper because that seemed easiest. I know many mail clients will choke if they see an email with a zip attachment that contains .exe's.
If it gets a good enough response, maybe I'll try to get it up onto
lojban.org somewhere. So, any and all feedback is welcome. Thanks.
