I think the important thing is to have a good algorithm in your head.
Here's mine: if you didn't know the answer or got it wrong, it's a
fail. If you had to think for a while, it's hard. If you just
remembered it normally, it's good. And if it's something you could
remember in your sleep (e.g. "prenu") then it's easy. If in doubt,
just go with good (this accounts for ~75% of my choices). I generally
don't give myself any more than a second or so to make the decision,
as it's really not a big deal if you choose the "wrong" one.
