The point I'm making about running two systems side-by-side is that in
any community of truly fluent people, either one of them would get
phased out, or they would diverge in meaning, usage, connotation etc.

Anyone, ignorant enough, can mis(non?)understand some text, "spoken" by the people of a different ignorance level and/or kind, while still be able to communicate with ones of the same/compatible ignorances. That's why we read the "grammar" and the like kind of books.
