I had been about to say the similar

le mi crane cu berti me.

Both of these assume that by "facing" you mean "fronting". My body could be "facing" north, but if I am looking to my left, my face/gaze etc is pointing west. Perhaps the typical English idiomatic wording is what made it hard to find a Lojban expression.
